IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR ALL

This message is twofold. I'm asking all to remember this, as a dog owner or just a visitor of a dog owner. While we love our poochies and treat them as children, they are still animals. And sometimes for reasons unknown, they can and will growl/snap at/bite at any given time. Personally I have 2 dogs, a toy poodle and a Pit bull (I know what your thinking but towards the family she is a very loving dog but VERY protective of us and our home. Knowing that, we put her into her 'room' anytime we have people over, for every ones safety.) Even dogs that enjoy the status 'good family dogs', 'good tempered dogs' and 'good with kids dogs' can react how and when you least expect it. People tend to let their guard down with certain types of dogs. Always, always keep in mind that any dog at any time can do the unexpected.
.
.
I also would like to take this time to please ask every pet owner to keep current on your pets shots. A nip from a dog or a scratch from a cat that is not current can be dangerous to the person harmed.
.
I'm sure all of you are wondering why I've chosen to write about this here on Little Bit. On Feb 20th my 17 year old daughter was seriously bitten by a Chocolate Lab. The dog attacked with no provoking on her part (per the dog owner). For whatever reason the dog just jumped up and bit her. I was told this dog had never done anything like this before. The result was half of her bottom lip was almost tore off. It took 2 hours and over 100 stitches to put her lip back on. She also has damage to the muscle in her cheek that may never be right again. The dog was not current on it's shots and the owners of the dog had it put down before the waiting period, so she will also have to go through a series of shots to prevent rabies.
.
If by putting this here I can stop one other child or adult from going through this, well then it is more then worth it.
