SAD NEWS

For those of you who haven't heard yet, there has been a devastating fire at Pilanesburg National Park where the KWA cam is located. Thank you mamasafari for posting the info at Indaba. From what I'm reading everyone was unaware of the fire until then. She also reports to hearing that 20 Elephants have been injured and one was put down. There is an ongoing air search for other injured animals.
.
Elaine has also posted a link at Indaba to a news story on the fire. In short it states that while officials are stating 50 % of the park was burned, sources are saying it was 75%. Such a loss. You can read the article at ~

.
I'll will try to find out more on the fire and post what I find. I know we are all worried about the animals and how this will impact their lives. I want to thank Mamasafari and Elaine again for passing the info along.
.
I have some photos to post but will leave that for later, as I'd like to keep this post at the top for a bit. Until later then HAPPY VIEWING !!

ANOTHER NEW LINK !

I want to thank mamasafari for bringing this site to us. It has a daily journal written by photographer/film maker Kim Wolhuter. The posts contain still photos, streaming clips and a bit about the events of the day. Mr. Wolhuter's work has appeared on National Geographic. What a treat to be able to follow along on his current endeavor. The site is http://www.wildcast.net/ and of course I've added the link to the list.

Thank you again mamasafari for enabling all of us to get the chance to see this.

Until the next time HAPPY VIEWING !!

PS ~ I'M GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY. AND A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.

DAVEKAY GOES ELLIE !!

Ok not totally Ellie. There are a few others in here to. Basically what I have this time is Ellies at Nkorho along with a hornbill and a pied (?) crow. Then DaveKay caught some stills of the baby rescue at Pete's. I know most of you have probaly seen Mamasafari's video at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERLtCbUkvoM

But as DaveKay said the stills are nice too. If you haven't seen this video, you should. It's awesome how they rallied to help out.

Wonder how much water actually makes it in their mouth??

I've tried to catch a snap like this and could never time it right.

And DaveKay manages to do it twice !!

Now here is a part you don't see often. And I thought my dog had big feet.

Here is the local Hornbill

I'm thinking Pied-Crow. Yes?

How come birds are so pretty and when it comes to their feet it's all over? I've got birds and until recently never really looked at their feet. Due to a recent mishap with one of them, I've really looked and man are they ugly!!!

And now for the rescue series. DaveKay sent them to me in the order they took place. I hope I've got them in the right order.
