Thanks DaveKay. Sorry it took me a bit to get these up but the Holiday weekend was calling me. Had a nice rest, did lots of relaxing. I hope everyone in the US enjoyed the long weekend but it's Tues and it's back to the grind stone for me (and I imagine for some others too).

FROM GERMANY

Well since I asked about the Red Deer site, it's only fitting that we have some snaps from there.

Looks like their losing their winter coats and new antlers are sprouting.

Nice view.

LET ME EXPLAIN

Here's what happened. Katie Girl sent in 2 sets of photos, 1 to addy A and 1 to addy B. Guess I didn't look closely enough and posted from the email at addy B before addy A. So when I said 'she sent this one after the others' it was supposed to be after this bunch not before. But beacuse when I post it always puts the newest post at the top, it will read in the right order. So there you have it. Now I know if I hadn't said anything the olny ones to know would be Katie Girl and I but that's not me. It's been a bit crazy here. I have an older large (85 lbs) dog that's been having a lot of problems with her hips. Well I was giving her Bufferin, which helped out for about 1 year. The vet wanted to put her on a med designed just for this problem in dogs, OK. Well I couldn't give it to her until the Bufferin was out of her system. Long week for that. Had to give her a morphine type drug for pain. Poor baby couldn't get up at all. So I brought her her food and water, got some training pads to put under her, bathed her after going potty and all that kind of thing. Finally it was time for the new med. Well within 48 hours she let us help her up (put a towel under her belly) and help her outside. I think she was very happy about being able to do her business outside. After all potty in the house was a no-no. Well Fri morning I get up, get my coffee and whatnot and get ready to do a little cam surfin'. I left the room and when I came back, she was standing! She also managed to get as far as the door. Of course I used the towel trick to help her down the stairs but after that it was like she was on a mission. Off to the grass she went. She's a bit slow about it, took about an hour to get her out and back in, but we are up to going outside twice a day and she goes to her food and water on her own a couple times a day. Big big improvement. I considered having her put down but I sure am glad I gave these meds a chance. She's not the dog she used to be but I wouldn't trade her for any other. As long as she isn't in pain, she'll always have a place with me.
.
Ok now on to Katie Girl's photos. She titled all of them and I don't know that I could caption them any better.

THANKS DAVEKAY ! !

DaveKay sent me these after seeing Finny's great shots over at WHAT'S IN YOUR BACKYARD ??

I knew about this site, used to watch it all the time but it completely slipped my mind! What with Pete's Pond, Nkorho and now Polar Bears I just stopped checking it. Depending on what time of the year it is their live stream shows either the red deer or wild boar and piglets. I remember watching the piglets, very cute. I've added the link on the right under 'Red Deer/Boar' for anyone who would like to check it out.

So thanks again DaveKay for reminding me about this site.

Until later HAPPY VIEWING !!

Hello fellow watchers. Today I have 2 new sites for you. The first site features Red Deer. It is a favorite of mine because it has not only Red Deer but Wild Boar. They alternate between the two on and off. It also has Sound!! I just spent 1/2 hour listening to the deer munch their way up to the cam. I could hear the birdsong in the background as well. This site is from Germany and these deer are in an fenced in area(but it's very large). They pretty much come and go in cam range as they please. Sometimes there is someone at the other end zooming in or panning, but the deer can and do go into the trees and are out of sight at times. I also watched earlier this year when the Wild Boar had piglets. Lots of them. They are kinda cute if I do say so myself. From info on the site there can be as many as 4/5 sows with litters of up to 15 each! That's a lot of piglets. Sometimes I've heard people voices. That's because this is a wildlife area that people can visit and see these animals without overly disturbing them. At other times you can hear a loud speaker, this is a demo with birds of prey that they give to visitors there. They are hoping that by educating the public about these guys it will keep them and their living space around for a long time to come. The address for this site is - wildlife.tv/en

The 'en' is important if you want the site in English not German!! They have a lot of photos to view and kid activities on the site too. If you don't see any deer or boar, you can always enjoy the wonderful background (trees and the lake) while you listen to the sounds of birdsong.

Next I stopped off to watch some Wood Storks. This site has 3 cams on different nests. Wood Storks are a little strange. They don't do much but there are some younger birds in two of them. Mostly you'll see the younger ones, but when mom/dad are there, you'll see that the chicks are still a bit smaller. I don't have a lot of info about the site for you, simply because I don't read German. That's the only draw back to this site. Two of the cams do refresh every 10 seconds in a smaller picture and have a larger picture that updates once a min. In two of them you can also see a town in the background, which is interesting to check out. It looks very small and quiet. Not a lot of cars or people. Relaxing. The address for these cams is -

pfalzstorch.de/bilder/live_zeiskam.html

I hope you enjoy the trip through Germany. I know that I did. I check up on the deer whenever I need to HEAR to sounds of nature. It always is a pleasant way to relax. I really like it when it rains there. Very soothing.

My next post will be an update of all the cams so far, so be on the look out for that. Should be able to travel around the world in the next day or so. May take a few hours, but hey I'm up for it. I'll try and get some good pics during my trip.

I have a few zoo sites that I'll be letting you know about in the next week or so. Stay tuned for that news too.

Until then -- HAPPY VIEWING!!
