PANDA UPDATES

We all know of the devastating earthquake in China and the toll on people it has taken. In deaths, injuries and total loss of hearth and home. I haven't heard to much in the news though of the Panda Research Center. Not to worry though because DaveKay has been sending me the update reports he gets.
.
The Research Center is about 55 miles from the epicenter. Communication with those at the Center is difficult. Cell phone towers are not working and the area is very remote. Initial reports said pandas, cubs and caretakers were safe and being moved to a safer location. And they were working to confirm that info. As of May 14, 2008 Panda International believes that staff at the Research Center have survived and are working hard and are waiting further reports before issuing statements on the Pandas and their cubs.
.
I have read a News report that stated 3 of the Pandas were missing. They believe that damage to the enclosures allowed the Pandas out and are hoping that they will come back since that was the major food source for them. They are also worried that the Pandas may be very upset from the earthquake and may not act as they normally would. I don't know if this report has been confirmed or not and have checked the Panda International site but as of this post it wasn't been addressed there.
.
I'll do my best to keep updates on the Pandas posted here.
.
Thanks DaveKay for sending me the updates and Thanks to www.pandasinternational.org for keeping us updated on things there.
.
Until then HAPPY VIEWING !!
